Public sector organisations can play an important leadership role in increasing the use of renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency and inspiring New Zealanders to take personal responsibility for their energy.

Funding is available to help public sector organisations to install solar water heating systems in buildings and facilities they own.

Public sector organisations including government departments, councils, Crown entities, Crown-owned companies, district health boards, schools and universities are eligible to apply for an Installation Grant.

The level of support is 1,000 per system if applied prior to 1 September 2010
